Design Build Source ("DBS", "we", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and safeguard your personal information.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly (name, email, suburb, project type) when you create an account or use our tools. We also collect usage data (pages visited, searches performed) and technical data (device type, browser) to improve the platform. Professional profiles include business information sourced from public registers (ABN, licence numbers) and information you provide during onboarding.

2. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used to: personalise your experience (suburb-based DA data, matched professional recommendations); operate our platform (account management, enquiry routing); improve our services (analytics, feature development); and communicate with you (service emails, platform updates). We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Professional Directory Data

Professional profile data (business name, ABN, licence number, contact information) is sourced from public registers including the Australian Business Register (ABR) and state licensing bodies. This data is publicly available. If you are a professional and wish to update or remove your profile, contact us at hello@designbuildsource.com.au.

4. Development Application Data

Development application (DA) data is sourced from council and state government portals under open data licences. We do not collect or display residential homeowner personal details from DA documents — only business contact information (applicant business name, professional type) is recorded.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Neon (PostgreSQL) servers in Australia and the United States. Media files are stored on Cloudflare R2 with Australian edge delivery. We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to personal data is restricted to authorised personnel only.

6. Cookies and Analytics

We use essential cookies for session management and authentication (via Clerk). We use analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4) to understand platform usage. You may decline non-essential cookies via the cookie consent banner. We do not use advertising cookies or share data with advertising networks.

7. Your Rights

Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), you have the right to access, correct, and in some cases delete your personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@designbuildsource.com.au. We will respond within 30 days. You may also request data portability (export of your account data) at any time.

8. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services: Clerk (authentication), Stripe (payments), Brevo (transactional email), Cloudflare R2 (media storage), Google Analytics (usage analytics). Each provider has their own privacy policy. We do not share personal data beyond what is required for these services to function.
